Universal Audio Thunderbolt Option Card Details

The Thunderbolt Option Card for the Apollo audio interface provides greater UAD plug-in instances, improved performance at higher sample rates, and reduced UAD plug-in latency versus Apollos standard FireWire connection. Compatible with Intels new Thunderbolt technology on the latest generation of iMacs , MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs , and Mac minis, the Thunderbolt Option Card offers unrivaled bandwidth and next-generation connectivity for the Apollo interface.

The user-installable Thunderbolt Option Card includes two Thunderbolt ports, and easily slides into the expansion bay of the Apollo. Bus power is provided to all downstream Thunderbolt devices, allowing music producers to connect peripherals in series with the Apollo interface including hard drives, processors, and computer displays.

When the Thunderbolt Option Card is engaged, Apollos FireWire 800 ports are instantly reconfigured as a hub for connecting FireWire devices, such as a hard drive or a UAD-2 Satellite.

With two on-board, studio-quality condenser mics configured in a wide 120° X/Y pattern, the Q3HD gives you true depth and stereo imaging, making your movies sound as if they were recorded on a Hollywood soundstage. The Q3HD also displays audio meters, allowing you to quickly monitor and set your levels. Set the gain to High or Low to record in soft or loud environments. Or use the Q3HD's Auto Level to automatically set the right recording level for any given situation. And now with two settings for Auto Level Gain Control, we've made it easy to get great sound no matter what you're shooting. For outdoor shoots, we highly recommend using a windscreen over the mics.
